Which system do I need?

In Singapore, an aircon “system” is named by how many indoor units (fan coil units) connect to one outdoor unit:

  • System 1 — single split: one indoor unit, one outdoor unit. Best for a single room.
  • System 2 to 5 — multi-split: one outdoor unit running 2 to 5 indoor units, so several rooms share one condenser.

A multi-split outdoor unit covers a range. A condenser rated for up to 4 rooms can run a System 2, 3 or 4, depending on how many rooms you connect — so you have room to add later. Not sure what you need? Try our BTU Calculator or contact us for a free assessment.

Single-split versus multi-split aircon systems System 1 is a single split: one outdoor condenser connected to one indoor wall unit. System 2 to 5 is a multi-split: one outdoor condenser connected to up to five indoor wall units. System 1 — single split one outdoor unit, one room Room System 2–5 — multi-split one outdoor unit, up to five rooms Room A Room B Room C Room D The condenser sits outside; each indoor unit cools one room.

  • Indoor and outdoor units on different floors.
  • Cutting, patching or painting of false ceilings.
  • Working height above 3 metres.
  • Power point or isolator.
  • Stainless steel bracket or water tray.

Installation warranty

Every installation carries a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of handover, on top of the manufacturer’s warranty on the units themselves. We also run periodic warranty upgrades — see our warranty page for full terms and what’s currently on offer.

Frequently asked questions

What do System 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 mean?
The number is how many indoor units (rooms) run off one outdoor unit. System 1 is a single split — one indoor, one outdoor. System 2 to 5 are multi-split — one outdoor unit serving 2 to 5 rooms.
Can one outdoor unit cool different numbers of rooms?
Yes. A multi-split outdoor unit supports a range up to its maximum. A condenser rated for up to 4 rooms can run a System 2, 3 or 4 — so you can start smaller and add rooms later, within its limit.
Which brand should I choose — Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin or Midea?
All three are brands we’re authorised to install, all run on R32 refrigerant and are NEA 5-tick rated. The differences come down to features and budget. Tell us your rooms and we’ll recommend the right fit on survey.
How do I know what capacity I need?
Room size decides the BTU you need — too small won’t cool, too big wastes energy and money. Use our BTU Calculator for a guide, or let us assess it on a free survey.
How long does an installation take?
A standard system is usually completed in a day. We allow one survey trip and two installation trips so the work fits around your renovation or move-in.
Do you remove and dispose of my old aircon?
Yes — free dismantle and disposal of your existing system when you replace it with us.
What warranty comes with installation?
A 12-month workmanship warranty from handover, plus the manufacturer’s warranty on the units. Ask us about any warranty upgrade currently running.
Do you install for HDB flats, condos, landed homes and offices?
Yes, all of them. Some setups (different floors, false ceilings, high working areas) need additional work — we’ll flag the cost on survey before you commit.
